An example report

See what your body is made of.

This is a real report from our studio, anonymised: a man in his 30s. Tap each part to see what it shows and how we use it in training.

Example from a real report. Personal data removed.

17.5%
body fat
Less body fatMore body fat

He has more body fat than 31% of men his age and less than 69%.

Measured by the scanner, not estimated from weight and height.

This is his starting point. On the next scan we see what changed in fat and in muscle, each one on its own.

66.5kg
lean mass
Muscle index (RSMI) 8.5 kg/m²

Lean mass is mostly muscle, plus organs and water, and the muscle index looks at the lean mass in his arms and legs relative to his height.

We use the muscle index to check if the muscle he builds in training shows up in his arms and legs on the next scan.

278g
difference in lean mass between his arms · legs: 291 g
Arms
R 4,903 gL 4,624 g
Legs
R 10,563 gL 10,272 g

The scan measures each arm and each leg separately, so you see if one side carries more lean mass than the other.

We add single-arm and single-leg work for the side that has less, and look at the gap again on the next scan.

132g
estimated fat around the organs (visceral fat), 140 cm³

Visceral fat is the fat inside the belly, around the organs, and the scan estimates it from the image.

We write it down as his reference and compare it on the next scan, together with the fat on the rest of his body.

What the scale doesn't show.

A scale gives you your weight, and the other methods estimate the rest with a formula. Our scan measures fat and muscle for each part of your body, so you know what changed and where.

* Our scan uses dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, with a very low dose of radiation. Because it is an X-ray, every scan needs an individual justification under the Swiss Radiation Protection Ordinance, and we don't offer it for lifestyle or general wellness purposes.

How it works

The numbers are only useful if someone explains them.

Our coaches have BSc or MSc degrees in sports science, and they are the same people who train our clients every day. They read your report together with your training and your goal, and tell you what to do next. We don't make diagnoses. We explain your values in relation to your training.

Questions before your scan

If yours is not here, email us at info@vaulttraining.ch.

No. Anyone aged 18 or over can book a scan, with the individual justification described above.

CHF 235 per scan, with the debrief by a coach included. All our prices are on our pricing page.

Wear comfortable clothes without metal zips or buttons, and take off jewellery. Avoid a big meal or hard training right before your appointment.

Yes. A second scan makes sense when there is a reason for it, for example to see what changed after a block of training. Every repeat scan is justified individually as well.

No. It uses a very low dose of X-rays, so we don't scan anyone who is or might be pregnant. If that could be you, tell us when you book and we'll find another time.

It is a dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry scan. You lie still on a table in your clothes while the scanner arm passes over you with a very low dose of X-rays, and the software separates fat from lean tissue in each part of your body. The scan itself takes less than 10 minutes.

No. We don't make diagnoses, and the scan doesn't replace a check with your doctor.

Brandschenkestrasse 150, 8002 Zürich, in the city centre. 4 minutes on foot from Bahnhof Enge, with parking right in front of the studio. We scan Tuesday to Friday, from 9:00 to 17:00.

Why we ask a few questions before your scan

The scan uses dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry with a very low dose of radiation. Because it is still an X-ray, we don't scan anyone who is or might be pregnant. Please tell us when you book.

All scans are carried out in accordance with the Swiss Radiation Protection Ordinance (Art. 28–31) and the KSR recommendations. That is why each scan needs an individual justification before the examination. The service is not offered for lifestyle or general wellness purposes.

The scan is not a medical diagnosis. We explain your values in relation to your training.

Know where you start.

Training for months on a guess costs more than one scan. CHF 235, Tuesday to Friday, results the same day. Pick a day and we reply the same day by email with the free times.
